@Painbaker In some cases, I've noticed that the article image isn't displayed when no cover is selected. Shouldn't it default to the first image?
It already does that. I am unable to reproduce this issue on the test site. Could you please describe in more detail the circumstances under which this occurs?

I've checked the articles where the problem occurred, and it seems to be resolved. If I find the error again, I'll send you some example links.
 
@Painbaker think I've found the problem.

If guests don't have permission to view attachments and no cover image is selected, the article appears empty in the node preview. However, if an image is selected, it does display even if the permission to view attachments is set to "no".

My attachments are embedded as thumbnails.

Can you try testing it with these options?

This is standard behavior for XF without the add-on.
It does not select attachments that you cannot view and that are embedded in the message.
